Shanghai HINT was formed in 1997 by an entrepreneurial group of PRC Nationals. The company was launched with ~100,000 RMB ($15,000) by a small group of local investors.

The objective was to capitalize on the rapidly growing demand for contract manufacturing services in mainland China. The management team was not only highly experienced at building electronics equipment but highly knowledgeable of the local environment. Thus the team was able to structure Shanghai HINT to provide low cost, high quality, highly responsive manufacturing services to local as well as foreign customers.

Shanghai HINT today

In the last 5 years, the company has prospered and grown from this modest foundation by providing low cost and excellent quality and service. This excellent cost, quality and service have enabled Shanghai HINT to develop many major brand name customers including several from Japan.

Today, the company employs over 300 people working in a 60,000 sq. foot facility in an industrial section South of the center of Shanghai.

Shanghai HINT has rapidly grown to 5 SMT lines, is ISO 9002 certified and offers complete SMT, through hole, both automatic insertion and manual assembly and electrical test.

Recently, Shanghai HINT formed a joint venture relationship with PROMEX Industries Incorporated (www.promex-ind.com) of Santa Clara, California, USA. The purpose of the relationship is to gain access to the US market, access additional business and manufacturing processes and strengthen Shanghai HINT's technology.
